Colart: “Atlantic France is a fabulous place for industry”

UK | The art materials specialist Colart has expanded in Le Mans, and is looking to the future in Atlantic France. The long running company set up in our region and has taken huge steps forward thanks to the location, investments and support.

Colart is the world’s leading supplier of art materials. Their products are well known for their quality and have been used by some of the most famous artists. The company set up in Atlantic France with a production factory in Le Mans.

Whilst Colart manufactures materials for brands that started in the 18th century, it constantly responds to the changing needs of artists, by improving the performance of its product ranges through the application of the latest available technology. The Le Mans site is recognised for its competencies and mainly deals with logistics and the manufacture of pastes, with high quality paints… but at competitive costs compared to China.

The main Continental European distribution center

Colart Le Mans has become a vital part of the enterprise after becoming one of the five manufacturing factories of Colart in the whole world, after two production facilities were closed down in the UK.

Furthermore, the same site became the main Continental European distribution center in 2012 after the other European logistics warehouses were closed and moved to Le Mans. The city has all the local amenities needed for a successful company as well as good transport links with efficient motorways and high-speed rail services.

A strategic factory with a lot of potential

The Colart factory in Le Mans has great potential and in particular could be extended to provide solutions to address all manufacturing and logistics issues.

The company benefits from reductions in employment costs and support from the local authorities for potential extensions and further grants. The success and future of Colart Le Mans is highly positive and the factory is truly a strategic site for the group.
